Summer Reading Recap
It's strange to sit and writing. Months have passed since I wrote words down and now as I sit on my sunny front porch on the cusp of August, I wonder where time has gone. Part of my summer is a blur with endless days of backyard gardening; trips to the beach; hikes in the woods; long morning of sleeping in and late nights of wine. In May we waded through school work and watched the tulips bloom and fase. In June, the girls and I logged over 150 miles on the bikes. July I was able to enjoy Cousin's Month with my Cousin/Sister/Mom and fellow reading buddy, Sarah. Flowers bloomed and pages were turned. Sprinklers ran and boats sailed by. It's been a sweet and bitter time. Some of my regular summer plans were canceled. Some were forgotten. New things grew in their place. Reading stayed the same.
#Unreadshelfproject2020 update
In January the inventory is as follows:
14 Kindle Books
11 Audio Books
125 hard/soft covered books
July 31, mid year inventory is as follows:
14 Kindle Books
21 Audio Books
88 hard/soft covered books
Reflection: I don't make progress on Kindle books and it is probably because I read them in the dark while in bed and that is a recipe for sleep. I doubled my audio books while not making a dent and that is probably due to the lack of commuting to work while having an audible account. I killed the reduction of hard/soft covered the first part of the year. Down 37 books mostly because I became vigilant about what I want to read vs. having books on my shelf.
I added two new categories to my #unreadself.
Holiday Reads: Starting October 1, I will be reading holiday themes books. I went into my holiday tubs and pulled out all the copies and made room so when the time comes, I am ready. There are seven books to choose from.
Plan for August: #Unreadshelfproject2020 has August as a buddy read. Cousin/Sister/Mom Sarah picked Sing, Unburied Sing by Ward. I also want to continue reading The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by Kamkwamba, and Smart but Scattered by Dawson.
